Voluntary Service at Youth Education Centre Kurt Löwenstein
The Youth Education Centre Kurt Löwenstein, located in Werneuchen/Werftpfuhl, Brandenburg, is looking for a one-year volunteer in the framework of the European Solidarity Corps supporting the international projects. The starting date is flexible between 1 February 2026 and no later than 1 May 2026.
Who we are - Youth Education Centre Kurt Löwenstein
We are working with different formats and groups in non-formal education. Among others, we are organizing seminars for children and young people (between 8 and 27 years) from the region, trainings for multipliers of youth workers and professionals involved in associations, and international seminars. Our work aims to strengthen democratic action and young people’s participation in civil society by addressing political issues such as gender and sexual identity, anti-racism and anti-discrimination, peace education, and other topics that challenge structures of exclusion including racism, classism, and sexism, in pursuit of an inclusive and diverse society. As the federal education centre of the Socialist Youth of Germany - Die Falken (https://www.wir-falken.de/), we are active in international networks and cooperate with partner organizations engaged in political and cultural education.
Each year, we organize four international multilateral events/activities, which last for 8 days in cooperation with our international partners. Additionally, many bilateral international seminars take place.
Your main tasks will be
You will assist the staff members in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the international seminars. Possible tasks of the volunteer range from moderating and facilitating working groups or inputs during seminars, PR-work and social media, cooperate und communicate with partners and support in the financial administration of international projects (application and reporting to the funding bodies). You can also choose to get involved with other seminars and projects with German pupils dealing with various topics of human rights and active citizenship. The volunteer will be implementing a project on their own during the year, with a chosen topic, format at partners.
What we offer
• The working hours will amount to 35h per week on average (with more during seminars and less during non-seminar weeks), usually on five days a week (except the seminars are longer). Working hours are arranged by the volunteer in consultation with the responsible staff member of the Centre.
• 25 days of holidays will be given per year.
• You will be accommodated in a private room or flat, either in Berlin or closer to the Education Centre (e.g. Werneuchen). You can choose the location within theagreed budget.
• You will be supported with a public transport ticket for Germany (“Deutschlandticket”).
• During the working days, meals will be provided by the Education Centre. For weekends and during holidays, the volunteer will receive an allowance for food.
• You will receive pocket money and can be supported with a German language course.
Who we are looking for
• Good knowledge of English is required (by written and spoken).
• Basic knowledge of German is recommended
• Age between 18 and 30 years old
• First experiences in the field of non-formal education Applications
